תהילים כ״ז | Psalm 27

​

לְדָוִד יְהוָה אוֹרִי וְיִשְׁעִי מִמִּי אִירָא יְהוָה מָעוֹז־חַיַּי מִמִּי אֶפְחָד
Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

 

בִּקְרֹב עָלַי מְרֵעִים לֶאֱכוֹל אֶת־בְּשָׂרִי צָרַי וְאֹיְבַי לִי הֵמָּה כָשְׁלוּ וְנָפָלוּ
When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh—my adversaries and my enemies—they stumbled and fell.

 

אִם־תַּחֲנֶה עָלַי מַחֲנֶה לֹא־יִירָא לִבִּי אִם־תָּקוּם עָלַי מִלְחָמָה בְּזֹאת אֲנִי בוֹטֵחַ
Though an army encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war arise against me, even then I will be confident.

 

אַחַת שָׁאַלְתִּי מֵאֵת־יְהוָה אוֹתָהּ אֲבַקֵּשׁ שִׁבְתִּי בְּבֵית־יְהוָה כָּל־יְמֵי חַיַּי לַחֲזוֹת בְּנֹעַם־יְהוָה וּלְבַקֵּר בְּהֵיכָלוֹ
One thing I ask of the LORD—this I seek: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to meditate in His sanctuary.

 

כִּי יִצְפְּנֵנִי בְּסֻכּוֹ בְּיוֹם רָעָה יַסְתִּירֵנִי בְּסֵתֶר אָהֳלוֹ בְּצוּר יְרוֹמְמֵנִי
For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble; He will conceal me in the secret of His tent; He will lift me high upon a rock.

 

וְעַתָּה יָרוּם רֹאשִׁי עַל־אֹיְבַי סְבִיבוֹתַי וְאֶזְבְּחָה בְאָהֳלוֹ זִבְחֵי תְרוּעָה אָשִׁירָה וַאֲזַמְּרָה לַיהוָה
Now my head is lifted up above my enemies around me; I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

 

שְׁמַע־יְהוָה קוֹלִי אֶקְרָא וְחָנֵּנִי וַעֲנֵנִי
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice; be gracious to me and answer me.

 

לְךָ אָמַר לִבִּי בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָי אֶת־פָּנֶיךָ יְהוָה אֲבַקֵּשׁ
My heart says to You, “Seek My face.” Your face, O LORD, I seek.

 

אַל־תַּסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ מִמֶּנִּי אַל־תַּט בְּאַף עַבְדֶּךָ עֶזְרָתִי הָיִיתָ אַל־תִּטְּשֵׁנִי וְאַל־תַּעַזְבֵנִי אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעִי
Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger. You have been my help—do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

 

כִּי־אָבִי וְאִמִּי עֲזָבוּנִי וַיהוָה יַאַסְפֵנִי
Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will take me in.

 

הוֹרֵנִי יְהוָה דַּרְכֶּךָ וּנְחֵנִי בְּאֹרַח מִישׁוֹר לְמַעַן שֹׁרְרָי
Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies.

 

אַל־תִּתְּנֵנִי בְּנֶפֶשׁ צָרָי כִּי קָמוּ־בִי עֵדֵי־שֶׁקֶר וִיפֵחַ חָמָס
Do not give me over to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence.

 

לוּלֵא הֶאֱמַנְתִּי לִרְאוֹת בְּטוּב־יְהוָה בְּאֶרֶץ חַיִּים
If I had not believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living—!

 

קַוֵּה אֶל־יְהוָה חֲזַק וְיַאֲמֵץ לִבֶּךָ וְקַוֵּה אֶל־יְהוָה
Hope in the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; and hope in the LORD.

 

תהילים מ״ו | Psalm 46

​

אֱלֹהִים לָנוּ מַחֲסֶה וָעֹז עֶזְרָה בְצָרוֹת נִמְצָא מְאֹד
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

 

עַל־כֵּן לֹא־נִירָא בְּהָמִיר אָרֶץ וּבְמוֹט הָרִים בְּלֵב יַמִּים
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth change, and though the mountains totter into the heart of the seas.

 

יִהֲמ֣וּ יֶחְמְרוּ מֵימָיו יִרְעֲשׁוּ הָרִים בְּגַאֲוָתוֹ סֶלָה
Its waters roar and foam; the mountains quake at its swelling. Selah.

 

נָהָר פְּלָגָיו יְשַׂמְּחוּ עִיר־אֱלֹהִים קְדֹשׁ מִשְׁכְּנֵי עֶלְיוֹן
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High.

 

אֱלֹהִים בְּקִרְבָּהּ בַּל־תִּמּוֹט יַעְזְרֶהָ אֱלֹהִים לִפְנוֹת בֹּקֶר
God is in her midst; she shall not be moved; God will help her at daybreak.

 

הָמוּ גוֹיִם מָטוּ מַמְלָכוֹת נָתַן בְּקוֹלוֹ תָּמוּג אָרֶץ
Nations rage, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts.

 

יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת עִמָּנוּ מִשְׂגָּב לָנוּ אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב סֶלָה
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.

 

לְכוּ חֲזוּ מִפְעֲלוֹת יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר שָׂם שַׁמּוֹת בָּאָרֶץ
Come, behold the works of the LORD, who has made desolations on the earth.

 

מַשְׁבִּית מִלְחָמוֹת עַד־קְצֵה הָאָרֶץ קֶשֶׁת יְשַׁבֵּר וְקִצֵּץ חֲנִית עֲגָלוֹת יִשְׂרֹף בָּאֵשׁ
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire.

 

הַרְפוּ וּדְעוּ כִּי־אָנֹכִי אֱלֹהִים אָרוּם בַּגּוֹיִם אָרוּם בָּאָרֶץ
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

 

יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת עִמָּנוּ מִשְׂגָּב לָנוּ אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב סֶלָה
The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

 

תהילים צ״א | Psalm 91

​

יֹשֵׁב בְּסֵתֶר עֶלְיוֹן בְּצֵל שַׁדַּי יִתְלוֹנָן
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

 

אֹמַר לַיהוָה מַחְסִי וּמְצוּדָתִי אֱלֹהַי אֶבְטַח־בּוֹ
I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

 

כִּי הוּא יַצִּילְךָ מִפַּח יָקוּשׁ מִדֶּבֶר הַוּוֹת
For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

 

בְּאֶבְרָתוֹ יָסֵךְ לָךְ וְתַחַת כְּנָפָיו תֶּחְסֶה צִנָּה וְסֹחֵרָה אֲמִתּוֹ
He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

 

לֹא־תִירָא מִפַּחַד לָיְלָה מֵחֵץ יָעוּף יוֹמָם
You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

 

מִדֶּבֶר בָּאֹפֶל יַהֲלֹךְ מִקֶּטֶב יָשׁוּד צָהֳרָיִם
Nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

 

יִפֹּל מִצִּדְּךָ אֶלֶף וּרְבָבָה מִימִינֶךָ אֵלֶיךָ לֹא יִגָּשׁ
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

 

רַק בְּעֵינֶיךָ תַבִּיט וְשִׁלֻּמַת רְשָׁעִים תִּרְאֶה
You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

 

כִּי־אַתָּה יְהוָה מַחְסִי עֶלְיוֹן שַׂמְתָּ מְעוֹנֶךָ
For You, O LORD, are my refuge; You have made the Most High your dwelling.

 

לֹא־תְאֻנֶּה אֵלֶיךָ רָעָה וְנֶגַע לֹא־יִקְרַב בְּאָהֳלֶךָ
No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.

 

כִּי מַלְאָכָיו יְצַוֶּה־לָּךְ לִשְׁמָרְךָ בְּכָל־דְּרָכֶיךָ
For He will command His angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.

 

עַל־כַּפַּיִם יִשָּׂאוּנְךָ פֶּן־תִּגֹּף בָּאֶבֶן רַגְלֶךָ
They will lift you up in their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

 

עַל־שַׁחַל וָפֶתֶן תִּדְרֹךְ תִּרְמֹס כְּפִיר וְתַנִּין
You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

 

כִּי־בִי חָשַׁק וַאֲפַלְּטֵהוּ אֲשַׂגְּבֵהוּ כִּי־יָדַע שְׁמִי
“Because he loves Me,” says the LORD, “I will deliver him; I will protect him, for he knows My name.”

 

יִקְרָאֵנִי וְאֶעֱנֵהוּ עִמּוֹ אָנֹכִי בְצָרָה אֲחַלְּצֵהוּ וַאֲכַבְּדֵהוּ
He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

 

אֹרֶךְ יָמִים אַשְׂבִּיעֵהוּ וְאַרְאֵהוּ בִּישׁוּעָתִי
With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.

 

תהילים קכ״א | Psalm 121

 

שִׁיר לַמַּעֲלוֹת אֶשָּׂא עֵינַי אֶל־הֶהָרִים מֵאַיִן יָבֹא עֶזְרִי
A song of ascents. I lift my eyes to the mountains—where will my help come from?

​

עֶזְרִי מֵעִם יְהוָה עֹשֵׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ
My help comes from the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth.

​

אַל־יִתֵּן לַמּוֹט רַגְלֶךָ אַל־יָנוּם שֹׁמְרֶךָ
He will not allow your foot to slip; your Guardian will not slumber.

 

הִנֵּה לֹא־יָנוּם וְלֹא יִישָׁן שׁוֹמֵר יִשְׂרָאֵל
Behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.

 

יְהוָה שֹׁמְרֶךָ יְהוָה צִלְּךָ עַל־יַד יְמִינֶךָ
The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade upon your right hand.

 

יוֹמָם הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ לֹא־יַכֶּכָּ וְיָרֵחַ בַּלָּיְלָה
The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

​

יְהוָה יִשְׁמָרְךָ מִכָּל־רָע יִשְׁמֹר אֶת־נַפְשֶׁךָ
The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will guard your soul.

​

יְהוָה יִשְׁמָר־צֵאתְךָ וּבוֹאֶךָ מֵעַתָּה וְעַד־עוֹלָם
The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in, from now and forevermore.

​

תהילים קכ״ב | Psalm 122

​

שִׁיר הַמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד שָׂמַחְתִּי בְּאֹמְרִים לִי בֵּית יְהוָה נֵלֵךְ
A song of ascents, of David. I rejoiced when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”

 

עֹמְדוֹת הָיוּ רַגְלֵינוּ בִּשְׁעָרַיִךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם
Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!

 

יְרוּשָׁלִַם הַבְּנוּיָה כְּעִיר שֶׁחֻבְּרָה־לָהּ יַחְדָּו
Jerusalem—built as a city that is joined together.

 

שֶׁשָּׁם עָלוּ שְׁבָטִים שִׁבְטֵי־יָהּ עֵדוּת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְהוֹדוֹת לְשֵׁם יְהוָה
To which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as a testimony to Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.

 

כִּי שָׁמָּה יָשְׁבוּ כִסְאוֹת לְמִשְׁפָּט כִּסְאוֹת לְבֵית דָּוִד
For there thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.

 

שַׁאֲלוּ שְׁלוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִַם יִשְׁלָיוּ אֹהֲבָיִךְ
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you prosper.

 

יְהִי שָׁלוֹם בְּחֵילֵךְ שַׁלְוָה בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָיִךְ
May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.

 

לְמַעַן אַחַי וְרֵעָי אֲדַבְּרָה־נָּא שָׁלוֹם בָּךְ
For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will now say, “Peace be within you.”

 

לְמַעַן בֵּית־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֲבַקְשָׁה טוֹב לָךְ
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.

 

תהילים קמ״ב | Psalm 142

​

מַשְׂכִּיל לְדָוִד בִּהְיוֹתוֹ בַמְּעָרָה תְּפִלָּה
A maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A prayer.

 

קוֹלִי אֶל־יְהוָה אֶזְעָק קוֹלִי אֶל־יְהוָה אֶתְחָנָן

With my voice I cry to the LORD; with my voice I plead for mercy to the LORD.

 

אֶשְׁפֹּךְ לְפָנָיו שִׂיחִי צָרָתִי לְפָנָיו אַגִּיד
I pour out my complaint before Him; I tell my trouble before Him.

 

בְּהִתְעַטֵּף עָלַי רוּחִי וְאַתָּה יָדַעְתָּ נְתִיבָתִי בְּאֹרַח זוּ אֲהַלֵּךְ טָמְנוּ פַח לִי

When my spirit faints within me, You know my path. In the way I walk they have hidden a snare for me.

 

הַבֵּט יָמִין וּרְאֵה וְאֵין לִי מַכִּיר אָבַד מָנוֹס מִמֶּנִּי אֵין דוֹרֵשׁ לְנַפְשִׁי
Look to the right and see: there is none who acknowledges me; refuge has failed me; no one cares for my soul.

 

זָעַקְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ יְהוָה אָמַרְתִּי אַתָּה מַחְסִי חֶלְקִי בְּאֶרֶץ הַחַיִּים
I cry to You, O LORD; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

 

הַקְשִׁיבָה אֶל־רִנָּתִי כִּי־דַלּוֹתִי מְאֹד הַצִּילֵנִי מֵרֹדְפַי כִּי־אָמְצוּ מִמֶּנִּי
Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.

 

הוֹצִיאָה מִמַּסְגֵּר נַפְשִׁי לְהוֹדוֹת אֶת־שְׁמֶךָ בִּי יַכְתִּרוּ צַדִּיקִים כִּי תִגְמֹל עָלָי
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to Your name; the righteous will surround me, for You will deal bountifully with me.
