Psalm 44
For the conductor. Of the sons of Korah. A maskil.
O God, we have heard with our ears; our fathers have told us the work You did in their days, in the days of old.
With Your hand You drove out the nations and planted them; You afflicted peoples and spread them abroad.
For they did not possess the land by their own sword, nor did their arm save them; but Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your face, because You favored them.
You are my King, O God; command deliverances for Jacob.
Through You we push back our adversaries; through Your name we trample those who rise against us.
For I will not trust in my bow, nor will my sword save me.
But You have saved us from our enemies and have put to shame those who hated us.
In God we have boasted all day long, and we will praise Your name forever. Selah.
But now You have cast us off and put us to shame, and do not go out with our armies.
You make us turn back from the adversary, and those who hate us plunder for themselves.
You have given us like sheep to be eaten and have scattered us among the nations.
You sell Your people for nothing and have not profited by their price.
You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and derision to those around us.
You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
All day my disgrace is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me,
Because of the voice of him who reproaches and blasphemes, because of the enemy and the avenger.
All this has come upon us, yet we have not forgotten You, nor have we dealt falsely in Your covenant.
Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps departed from Your way;
But You have crushed us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death.
If we had forgotten the name of our God or stretched out our hands to a foreign god,
Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
For Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not reject us forever.
Why do You hide Your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly clings to the earth.
Arise for our help and redeem us for the sake of Your mercy.
Psalm 83
A song. A psalm of Asaph.
O God, do not keep silent; do not hold Your peace, and do not be still, O God.
For behold, Your enemies make an uproar; those who hate You have lifted up their head.
They craftily plot against Your people and conspire against Your treasured ones.
They have said, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”
For they have conspired together with one mind; against You they make a covenant.
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites;
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre.
Assyria also has joined with them; they have helped the children of Lot. Selah.
Do to them as You did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the brook Kishon.
Who perished at En-dor; they became as dung for the earth.
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, “Let us take for ourselves the pastures of God for our own possession.”
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, like chaff before the wind.
As the fire burns a forest and as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,
So pursue them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your storm.
Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD.
Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; yes, let them be put to shame and perish.
That they may know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.
For He shall give His angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways.
They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra; the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.”
Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains — from where will my help come?
My help comes from the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot stumble; your Guardian will not slumber.
Behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.
The LORD is your Keeper; the LORD is your shade upon your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will guard your soul.
The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in from now and forever.
Psalm 122
A song of ascents. Of David.
I rejoiced when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem, built as a city that is bound firmly together,
To which the tribes go up — the tribes of the LORD — as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
For there thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.”
May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.
For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.
Psalm 130
A song of ascents.
Out of the depths I call to You, O LORD.
Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared.
I wait for the LORD; my soul waits, and in His word I hope.
My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning — yes, more than watchmen for the morning.
Let Israel hope in the LORD, for with the LORD there is lovingkindness, and with Him is abundant redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
